Are your lower leg and foot muscles tight? Do you get sore and aching muscles after sport? Dry needling may be able to help you!
What is dry needling?
Dry needling is a treatment used to reduce pain and restore function by releasing myofascial trigger points in the muscles (tight spots or knots). The treatment involves inserting a sterile, single-use acupuncture needle into the muscle.
What is the difference between dry needling and acupuncture?
Dry needling is not the same as acupuncture, it is a western medicine technique that is used widely and evidence-based for musculoskeletal conditions.
How does dry needling feel?
You may feel a slight sting as the needle is inserted and removed into the muscle during the treatment. However, this lasts no longer than a second. Also, a brief muscle twitch may occur as the needle is inserted into the myofascial trigger point.
